Excellent article. Good summary of the forces at play in the USA today. But where do the masses get moral courage from? Fear and Greed are the fertilizer that despots use to control the masses and America today has excessive amounts of each.

Thank you—well said. Your summary nails a core dilemma of our time.

The question of where the masses get moral courage from is essential, and urgent.

You're absolutely right: Fear and Greed are potent psychological levers. Despots don’t need truth, just amplified emotions and distracted minds. And in today’s America, those two forces, fear of loss, greed for gain, are relentlessly cultivated by both media ecosystems and political machines.

But moral courage? That doesn’t emerge from comfort. It often starts in friction, with disillusionment, doubt, or clarity that pierces through the noise.

So where might it come from? From those who choose truth over tribe, even when it costs them.

From education that teaches how to think, not what to think.

From community, because courage is contagious. And from the refusal to let algorithms decide what we believe.

You're pointing at something deeper: America doesn't suffer from a lack of intelligence, it suffers from a shortage of ethical backbone.

The real question is: Who’s building the muscles of moral courage now, and how do we amplify them before the next wave of manipulation hits?
